Top 5 Things To Do On Our Bucket List This Summer

This past year has been like no other and like most of the UK, we can’t wait to get back outdoors again and enjoy al fresco dining and outdoor activities this Summer. The weather in the French Alps has been a bit hit and miss these past few weeks, so there’ll be no stopping us this Summer (Covid permitting of course!) from getting out for some French sunshine. Here’s what’s on our bucket list to do this Summer season.

Eat out

We’ve missed eating fresh local cuisine! And it’s usually with a view out here in the French Alps. There are so many cafes, restaurants and bars we want experience again… Le Jardin in Villeneuve for their delicious crepes, Le Coeur de Vall for its spectacular views… There are so many, it’ll be hard to choose from! As lockdown eases in France, it’s anticipated that our evening curfews will end on 30th June.

Via Ferrata

There’s no better way to see the mountainous landscape than by rock climbing – the views from the top, wherever you are, are worth the effort! Our favourite is Le Casset in Serre Chevalier’s valley and Le Rocher du Bez in La Salle les Alpes.

Spa Day

It has to be on your list, right? We’re all in need of some time in the pool and jacuzzi, not to mention those indulgent spa treatments. Top of our list is a deep shoulder and back massage followed by the sauna. Le Grand Bains du Monetier and Ô des Cimes Altitude SPA in Peisey Vallandry are out favs.

Scootering the mountain trails

It’s a craze started earlier in the year with people hiring scooters to explore the landscape. If you fancy a break from hiking or mountain biking, this is for you. We haven’t tried it yet, but would love to have a go!

Be a culture vulture

The resorts have organised a corker of events this Summer from jazz concerts to film festivals. We just want to sit back and soak up the culture with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Bastille Day is on the 14th July – hoping for a great party atmosphere that day!! For Peisey Vallandry’s What’s On see here or Les Arcs. Serre Chevalier

Resort area openings (Summer 2021)

Serre Chevalier - 3rd July-29th August.

Les Arcs/Peisey Vallandry – Partial opening 5th June-2nd July. Full opening from 3rd July-28th August.

My girlfriend and I stayed in Vallandry with Hucksters for 6 days and had a great time with a very friendly environment including not only the staff, but also the other customers. The room was also nice, warm and very functional with the slopes only few meters away from the chalet. Therefore and acc...

The wider your snowplough is, the slower your speed will be.

Top Tip

By dispensing with things such as towels and complimentary toiletries (bring your own) and guaranteed en suite bathrooms, Hucksters has managed to create accommodation that is definitely communal and cheap but in that no-frills way that makes you feel pretty smug at the money you are saving. It has ...
