Women's Ski Fashion Trends 2018/19

It’s the height of summer, and with the glorious sunshine basking down, it may be odd for some to look towards the winter season. But for skiing enthusiasts and interested individuals, the slopes are mere months away. The excitement is getting to everyone, so much so that Telegraph ski fashion editor is even doing shoots on a blistering summer day to determine the latest ski fashion for women.

Plans for ski and snowboard brands revolve around two seasons, but styles are released way ahead of time to allow retail buyers the chance to select their stock for the upcoming season. It also gives holidaymakers and freeriders the opportunity to see what they should be purchasing for the season ahead, making sure their style is sleek before they hit those slopes. We’re sure that you are all starting your research!

In this latest feature, we take a look at the popular themes and styles that will be all the rage for winter 2018/19 to ensure you look and feel a million pounds on your budget snow holiday, without having to pay it!

Colourful Jackets

Let there be… colour. While black will always be fashionable, it’s all about bringing some vibrancy to the slopes for 2018/19. Look towards a plum purple for your skiing outfit, paired with a contrasting colour like blue or orange for a bold statement. Or why not try a lively red, as seen in this tweet by the Telegraph Ski & Snow shoot?

For those that like to be subtler, brown seems to be the go-to, with a range of shades for both men and women making its way onto the shelves.

Also, for another top tip, Telegraph Deputy Ski Editor Cat Weakley writes:

“I often think that jackets should come with much more detailed manuals, so their owners can really make the most of them - look for poppers or sliders that turn jacket and pants into onesies for example. So handy on a deep snow day!”

Ski Pants

Your choice will depend on your tastes and what you find comfortable, but luckily, there is a range of styles you can choose from.

Slim Fit Ski Pants

The first trendy option is the slim fit ski pants, which is a throwback to a popular style of the 60s. This will undoubtedly be a firm-favourite on the slopes this winter 2018/19, and you will see a lot of options in ski retailers for a range of budgets. Pick your options from simple styles to bold patterns to show off your ski swag. For a side note, eye-catching prints and floral designs will be a big hit and the option you should go to if you want to be on-trend.

White Ski Pants

If you’re not one for daring prints, opt for a classic white pant that can be matched with anything and everything. An excellent choice for those watching the pennies is North Face Freedom Insulated Ski Pants, with its high warmth rating, waterproof element and its great breathability that makes it an adaptable option this winter.

Bib Ski Pants

Returning to the slopes is the bib ski pants that everyone used to wear as a child. Those that are brave enough to wear this will definitely be set apart from the crowd. Fashion recommendations say to pair this with a floral or brightly-coloured jacket to look sharp.

Baggy Pants

Baggy pants will forever have a place on the slopes, and as a comfortable option, we are not surprised if many opt for this timeless piece. And although snowboarders usually sport them, they can be pulled off by skiers too. They can be paired with most jackets making them a staple in your ski wardrobe.

You don't have to buy the snowshoes, ice grippers and trekking poles you'll need on mountain walks. If you don't have the necessary kit for hiking, Evolution 2 offer kit for hire.
