As the days draw in and the weather gets colder we know that winter will shortly be here. Very soon the season will be upon us and we want the chalet to be at its best. Each year we have a rolling programme of repairs and renovations sometimes it is hard to see the work that has gone into making the chalet ready for winter but believe me, there will be hours spent on making sure that all is well and functioning as it should do before the wear and tear of the season takes its toll. Our staff lead by Paul will do the bulk of this work to ensure as far as we can that all is in order and ready for our guests. Julie is a dab hand with a paintbrush as well as being the final arbiter of where each of the new pictures finds a home.The major works are however done by our own team of Slovenian builders. Last year they created the new apartment in the PMB and ensured we could provide disabled access. This year lodges 3 and 4 are being remodeled as part of a two-year programme to change our 3 lodges into 2 bigger self-contained chalets in their own right.
Renovations in the lodges
This year the dividing wall has gone up, Lodge 2 remains the same for this season but will be subject to a complete remodeling next summer to become a 5 bedroom self-contained chalet for the start of season 2018. In the meantime, lodge 4 has merged with half of lodge 3 to become the new super 16-bed lodge. With 4 new bedrooms and 3 new shower rooms two of which are ensuite, the lodge will be able to accommodate bigger groups. Wood floors will replace carpet to provide a contemporary and allergy friendly environment. This season there will be a small kitchenette and the sitting area remains the same. Next year an internal staircase will link this lodge to the dining area below to create a self-contained chalet with its own dining, kitchen and sitting area. It is all very exciting and we cannot wait to see the finished article. In the meantime, the builders are pulling out all the stops working long hours to get it ready for us!
