The lead up to the chalet opening for the first guests is always a very busy time. The main building works having been completed there is still lots of minor maintenance to complete, plenty of cleaning and our favourite occupation moving furniture around. It is always, therefore, a massive thrill in amongst the mayhem created by set up to get out on the slopes for that first ski or snowboard of the season. This year we joined the folks at Pinewood when Serre Chevalier opened its lifts for the first weekend of December. There is no doubt that the muscle memory is going to need a couple more outings to get back into shape and even if we were not ski fit the snow was perfect, crisp and powdery and with the added bonus that it was so early in the season the slopes were our own. Since that first outing, the snow has just kept coming and now the pistes look amazing and we have just a week to go before they are all fully operational. Just looking out of the window is keeping us going as the moment as complete all our tasks to make the chalet ready for our first arrivals.
