When you think of budget ski holidays, Christmas isn’t generally a time when you think of booking… unless you know to get your holiday booked with Hucksters, of course! If you’re lucky enough to be heading out to the mountains with us this Christmas, then you may be wondering just what you can expect.
There are some added extras that you get with an already outstanding snow holiday when you choose a break with us. Just to give you an idea, here’s our Christmas itinerary from our Vallandry resort, featuring some of the treats you can look forward to when you’re in resort with us!
After a fun day of skiing, head on down to the Christmas Market in the afternoon. The market stays open until around 7pm and features a wonderful range of local crafts, foods and Christmas decorations. These cute stalls are amazing for getting a truly authentic Christmas feel and experience in the mountain, and you can pick yourself up some cool little souvenirs too!
On Christmas Eve, you can join us as we all gather around our Christmas Tree - outside – and sing Christmas carols; another authentic experience for everyone to enjoy that involves plenty of singing with anyone who fancies getting merry! We’ll be serving up some delicious, warming mulled wine and mince pies… just make sure you eat them between carols! There is a church in Peisey which holds an evening mass at around 6pm and also a midnight mass. There’s something really special about a midnight mass in the quaint churches, surrounded by a picturesque snow-filled setting.
Once you’re all nicely fed from the hearty Christmas Eve evening meal, we invite any of the guests who are up for joining us to help prepare the vegetables for the next day. We’ll get the Christmas songs going and there’s always wine and beer to be had, making this a sociable event that means we can all dash for the pub once the veggies are ready! We’ve regularly enjoyed this Hucksters tradition with up to 30 guests in the past!
Christmas Day orientation, starting at 9.30am, is a must for anyone who can navigate blue runs. If you’re still hitting the nursery slopes, fear not; everyone will be heading for the Blanche Muree when orientation finishes at 4pm. This gives those who had a heavy Xmas Eve celebrating the chance to recoup before getting stuck into some more festivities at après in the Blanche!
After après, come home, get changed, and join us again for sparkling wine and canapés before dinner while Father Christmas delivers parcels.
Our chalet staff will be sporting their finest festive hats and jumpers; guests are also welcomed to join in with the festive fashion. The evening will start at 7pm and Father Christmas will be here to deliver the parcels as part of secret Santa (we’ll tell you more when you’re here!).
The bit everyone has been waiting for, Christmas Day dinner! We’ll be serving up a mouth-watering roast dinner, complete with pigs in ski jackets, sprouts, parsnips, cranberry sauce, and chestnut stuffing followed by festive Christmas ice cream or Christmas pudding and brandy sauce. We hope you brought your ski bum salopettes, or things could get a bit snug!
While your Xmas dinner is settling, we’ll kick off the after-dinner games which includes After Eight mints and coffee. Depending on the age range of our guests, you can look forward to games such as; moving the After Eight down your face without your hands, to making spaghetti and marshmallow towers – watch out, this one gets pretty competitive!
This part of the Hucksters Christmas experience really does what it says on the tin. If you’re a little pooped from one too many black runs and après sessions, you can kick back with us on Boxing Day and watch some movies while seeing some chocolates away. What could be better?
This is just a few of the treats and traditions that we at Hucksters have waiting for our lucky guests. For more information, head over to our enquiries page, or send us an email to info@hucksterslodge.com.
